1. General information about Bac Ninh province.

- Geographical location, area, population: Bac Ninh province is located about 30 km to the north of Hanoi capital, in the economic growth triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - QuangNinh; it has an area of ​​822.7 km2, the terrain is relatively flat, the population is about 1,400,000 people.

- Administrative units: Bac Ninh province has 8 administrative units, including: Bac Ninh city, Tu Son city and 6 districts: Tien Du, Yen Phong, ThuanThanh, Que Vo, GiaBinh and Luong Tai with 126 commune-level administrative units, including 94 communes, 26 wards and 6 townships.

- Climate: Bac Ninh is located in a humid subtropical climate, divided into 4 distinct seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter). There is a clear difference in temperature between hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The difference reaches 15-16 °C. The rainy season lasts from May to October every year.

- Sociocultural:

Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac is famous for being an ancient land, a spiritual land of masterpieces, a convergence of the quintessence of national culture,  which is rich in historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions; the place associated with the legend of the Ancestor Kinh Duong Vuong; where the Ly Dynasty was discovered - the dynasty that opened and built the Dai Viet civilization; the land of legends, anecdotes, poetry, folk songs; the land of communal houses, pagodas, craft villages and unique traditional festivals of Vietnam. As of December 2021, Bac Ninh province has:

+ 1,589 relics, including 643 relics ranked by the State (04 special national relics, 204 national-ranked relics, 435 provincial-ranked relics), 14 artifacts recognized as national treasures;

+ 140 craft villages (62 traditional craft villages, 5 of them are registered as national intangible cultural heritage);

+ 547 traditional festivals (2 festivals are inscribed in the national intangible cultural heritage);

+ There are many unique folk performing arts such as tuồng, chèo, water puppetry, ca trù, trống quân... especially Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk song which is honored by UNESCOas the representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

In recent years, culture, sports and tourism have been focused on developing comprehensively, imbued with Kinh Bac cultural identity, effectively implementing conservation and promotion of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, especially Quan Ho folk songs. Physical - sport activities are developing day by day.

Education, health care and people's health are concerned, Bac Ninh is in top 10 provinces with the leading educational development of the whole country; the rate of trained workers ranks 5th in the country; health, especially, effective epidemic prevention and control, contribute to removing difficulties and promoting socio-economic development.

- Economy, defense and security:

Bac Ninh's economy continuously grew at a high rate (average of period 1997-2021 reached 13.9%/year); GRDP in 2021 ranks 13th in the country; The economy ranks 8th nationwide; GRDP per capita reached 155.6 million VND, ranked 4th in the country, is a province that balances budget revenues and expenditures; The economic structure shifts towards industry and services. The industrial scale increased rapidly, making Bac Ninh the center of electronics industry and high-tech industry of the whole country. In 2021, the industrial production value reached VND 1.5 million billion, ranking first in the country. Foreign economic relation developed, with 1,717 FDI projects, total registered capital of 21.2 billion USD, ranked 7th in the country, creating a favorable environment to attract investors from 38 countries and territories to Bac Ninh. National defense and security are maintained, social order and safety are stable.

- Ways of traveling and accessing through the transport system:

Bac Ninh is a province with important major routes running through, connecting the province with the economic, commercial and cultural centers of the North. National route 1A connecting Hanoi - Bac Ninh - Lang Son; Route 18 connecting Noi Bai International Airport - Bac Ninh - Ha Long; National route 38 connecting Bac Ninh - Hai Duong - Hai Phong; railway to Lang Son and China. The waterway network of Cau, Duong and Thai Binh rivers flows into the Bien Dong Sea (South China Sea). These are favorable conditions for economic - cultural - social development and exchanges with outsiders.
